Welcome To My Photography Blog!

profile

My name is Sharon Mallin and I am a natural light portrait and on-location photographer based in the Blue Mountains, NSW. I specialise in maternity, newborn, babies, children and family portraiture. I live at Faulconbridge (in the gorgeous Blue Mountains). I am happily married and have two beautiful children ~ a very active handsome little boy and a precious little girl.

One of my favourite photography quotes is by Sandra Edwards, and is one that I draw great inspiration from:“A photograph is not only a reflection of people. It is a reflection of compassion, love and memories of good times”.

I hope you enjoy my photography blog! Feel free to leave me a comment so that I know you stopped by.

A Trip To The Pool {Blue Mountains Photographer}

December 28, 2009

I hope you all enjoyed celebrating Christmas with friends and family.We had a lovely relaxed morning at home and then went up to my in-laws for an extended family gathering for lunch. As always, we ate too much yummy food and will resolve in the New Year to go on a diet!

Anyway ….

I have blogged a lot of black and white photographs lately, so thought it was time for some colour. As its wet and the kids are sick of being couped up inside – we decided to take them to the indoor heated pool around the corner from our house. They had lots of fun!

Merry Christmas! {Blue Mountains Photographer}

December 19, 2009

I cant believe there is only 6 more sleeps until Christmas!!! I will be taking the Christmas/New Year period off (apart from a few client orders that I am in the process of arranging pick-up for). I will be returning in the New Year on Monday 4th January 2010 and taking bookings for February 2010 (as January 2010 is already booked out).

I would like to wish my family, friends, clients and prospective clients a very Merry Christmas. I hope that you have a wonderful time celebrating this special time of year with your family and friends!

May the spirit of Christmas
bring you peace,

The gladness of Christmas
give you hope,

The warmth of Christmas
grant you love.

I will leave you with a little slideshow I made this morning, made up mostly of Christmas photo out-takes of my 2 gorgeous children.

ACOCP Session {Blue Mountains Photographer}

December 18, 2009

This is a very special blog post for a little girl, Miss A – that I photographed during the week. This was a session for the Australian Community of Child Photographers (ACOCP).

The Australian Community of Child Photographers (formerly known as the Australian Charity of Child Photographers) is a volunteer organisation of child photographers from all over Australia who have come together to form an organisation dedicated to giving the gift of photographic memories to families that have experienced stillbirths, premature and ill infants and children in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units of their local hospitals, as well as children with serious and terminal illnesses. The ACOCP is dedicated to providing this gift to families in a caring, compassionate and heartfelt manner.

Participating photographers will come to the hospital or the family home at a convenient time and will help supply the family with cherished photographic memories. There will be no charge for this service. After  the  session the photographer will provide  the family with a full set of 4×6in prints (approximately twenty, circumstances permitting sufficient variety of images). The photographer will also supply a disk of high resolution images for the family. There will be no charge for this service or these prints.

Miss A is a gorgeous and brave little girl. I feel very privileged to meet her, and photograph her and her family.

Turning 1! {Blue Mountains Photographer}

December 17, 2009

Today, Memories by Sharon Mallin turns 1 – I had hoped to post about this earlier today but ran into some major PC/technical problems (and a dead home phone line to-boot). But we got there in the end … just before midnight!

It absolutely amazes me that a year ago today I registered this business name and started to build a business from the ground up – with the hope and dream to build a successful portrait photography business.

I am so very thankful to my family and friends for their unconditional love and support over the last year.

I would like to say thank you to the community of photographers I am privileged to know – who have allowed me to bounce questions and ideas off, have given me advice and constructive criticism when required, and are a constant source of inspiration.

I also must acknowledge that I would not be where I am today without the trust of  my clients, who have allowed me to come into their lives if only for an hour or two, to capture memories of their families. My favourite photography quote is one by Sandra Edwards: “A photograph is not only a reflection of people. It is a reflection of compassion, love and memories of good times”. I feel privileged to be able to do something that I love, in the hope that the memories it creates for clients can last a lifetime. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

And last but definitely not least … the three people I need to thank the most is my darling husband Jonathan, and my two children (Ben and Jessica). ‘Mummy’ has spent many-a-weekend off at photo shoots and many more hours in front of the computer working over this last year. Their sacrifice, love and total support has allowed me to pursue this dream, and for that I will always be thankful.

2009 has been a wonderful year and I am very excited to see what next year has in stall.

Here is a collation of the sneak peek images that have been blogged for clients over the last year.

(Please note – this is an automatically generated collation. The placement of each little thumbnail is random).

And finally, I will leave you with a slideshow of some of the sneak peek images from this year. Make sure your speakers are on!

Thankyou from the bottom of my heart.
